The world is illusory, Only Brahman is real, Brahman is the world
RAMANA MAHARSHIThe world is illusory, Only Brahman is real, Brahman is the world
RAMANA MAHARSHIThere is nothing new to gain. On the other hand a man must lose his ignorance. That is all.
RAMANA MAHARSHIGood thoughts keep off bad thoughts. They must themselves disappear before the state of realization.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThe self cannot be found in books. You have to find it for yourself, within yourself.
RAMANA MAHARSHIMind is a wonderful force inherent in the Self.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThe search “Who am I” ends in the annihilation of the illusory “I” and the Self which remains over will be as clear as a gooseberry in the palm of one’s hand.
RAMANA MAHARSHIIt is said that the heart is in the microcosm just as the orb of the sun in the macrocosm. The mind in Sahasrara is like the disc of the moon.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThere is no mind to control if you realise the self. The mind having vanished, the self shines forth. In the realised man, the mind may be active or inactive, the self remains for him.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThe pure mind is itself Brahman; it therefore follows that Brahman is not other than the mind of the sage.
RAMANA MAHARSHIGrace is within you. Grace is your self. Grace is not something to be acquired from others. If it is external, it is useless. All that is necessary is to know its existence is in you. You are never out of its operation.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThere is nothing so simple as being the Self. It requires no effort, no aid. One has to leave off the wrong identity and be in his (her) eternal, natural, inherent state.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThe source of the ego is God.
RAMANA MAHARSHINon-action is unceasing activity. The sage is characterized by eternal and intense activity. His stillness is like the apparent stillness of a fast rotating gyroscope.
RAMANA MAHARSHIThere is neither Past nor Future. There is only the Present.
RAMANA MAHARSHISilence is also conversation.
RAMANA MAHARSHISelf-inquiry is the process and the goal also. ‘I am’ is the goal and the final reality. To hold to it with effort is self-inquiry. When spontaneous and natural it is realization.
