The only way to learn is for it not to get a laugh, so you can adjust it and come back the next day to see if it’s working right. Next time, you might get a different laugh. You’re constantly rebuilding.
When you have box-office results, Hollywood treats you different. Hollywood stands up. Once you get to the point where Hollywood sees that you create results, then the demand for you becomes higher.
I never looked back there, but she was like, ‘Will you all just shut up!’ And I just got up and moved three rows in front. She was like, ‘What are you doing?!’ I was like, ‘You better get up here! I don’t play the fighting games.’
I understand that being able to appeal to the public and having an amazing sense of humour is not something that comes easy. It’s definitely a gift and for which I’m thankful.
