I think the first thing that you need to detach yourself from is numbers, because music has now splintered off into so many different forms of media, MTV doesn’t play videos, the radio is now competing with the Internet.
It’s a really big struggle for me to write a song. Songs take either 30 seconds for me to write or a year or two to piece together, depending on the song and how I’m feeling on any given day.
I want to study marriage. I want to learn about it. I want to know it. I want to figure out whether or not I want to do it. I’m not just going to leap into it, because that’s not good for anybody.
