I’ve had to come through a lot and I’ve made a lot of different mistakes, but I realized that I never gave up. I wanted to so badly.
BRANDY NORWOODI’ve had to come through a lot and I’ve made a lot of different mistakes, but I realized that I never gave up. I wanted to so badly.
BRANDY NORWOODI have so much to talk about. I have so much to share. There are so many different emotions going on inside of me right now.
BRANDY NORWOODWhen I was 17, my producer Rodney Jerkins was working with Michael Jackson at the time. He knew how much I wanted to meet Michael Jackson, so he says, ‘Would you like to come and meet him?’
BRANDY NORWOODTo be on this set today, I feel very blessed for the second chance and for the opportunity, my record company believing in me and everybody here just showing me so much love and support.
BRANDY NORWOODI don’t know how I feel right now.
BRANDY NORWOODThis is truly a blessing. Breyon Prescott, Peter Edge and Tom Corson believe in me and have introduced me to a home that also believes and knows exactly what to do with the type of music I’m doing.
BRANDY NORWOODI went through a struggle, and I really needed to get myself together and connect with my purpose, which is music.
BRANDY NORWOODIt’d be negligent to say that I don’t want to be at the top of the charts. Of course I do, it’s proof that your song is being heard. But I think it’s more about the work for me and being proud of what I’m doing in music than what people think about my music.
BRANDY NORWOODSo when you get a chance to look at things and chill and relax, it makes you want it more, and that’s why I’m so happy to be back!
BRANDY NORWOODIn my life right now, in my music, and just overall I feel like I’m winning. It doesn’t matter what this person is saying or what the charts are saying or what award shows are saying, the public opinion doesn’t matter. I feel like I’m winning in my spirit.
BRANDY NORWOODWhen you don’t know your values or who you are or you start to believe things other people are telling you, you get lost. I was just lost because I didn’t know what I meant to music or what music meant to me. Now I just belong solo and I belong by myself.
BRANDY NORWOODThe more natural, the better.
BRANDY NORWOODAnd I’m looking at him like, ‘Oh my God. This is Michael Jackson’. I fainted, blacked out – like seriously blacked out.
BRANDY NORWOODIt feels amazing to be back on set. It feels like home, even though the territory is a little bit unfamiliar because it’s a new show, it’s a new character, but once you get in the groove and you start to settle in and trust the moment, you start to really feel at home.
BRANDY NORWOODI’m not going too far with it, but it’ll be within my roots. I feel like trying a different way to express my music because so many people have already taken from what I’ve done in the past and it kind of makes me not want to ever do anything that I’ve done before.
BRANDY NORWOODI don’t want to sell myself short just to get to the top of the charts. It doesn’t feel that great. Feeling proud of your work feels greater than being at the top of the charts.
