This is my stage; I’m not waiting to be hired by you to be on your stage. We all might die tomorrow, so I’m going to have to live in my gift, today, and give you the best performance in this room, right now, in case this is the last time you get to see me!
It is, perhaps more than anything else, the arrest of time which has taken place in a completed work of art that gives certain plays their feeling of depth and significance.
But now, with the last two years of touring and being on the road, I’ve learned that a live show should never sound like a record; a record should sound like a live show.
